The Internet has caught the fancy of the Indian Population. It is the latest addition to the media offerings that is making deep in roads into our everyday lives in its own unique way. Internet users are growing rapidly in India, regularly. Web users around 81 millions in a country of 1.2 billion till 2010-2011. India seems to have finally arrived. Isn’t it?
But if you try to calculate how much of this went towards the rural India called “Bharat” the answer is practically nil. Not only rural area still a huge section of Tier II and Tier III Cities are also suffering in the same way. So, what about the Non-Internet Users (NIU) which belongs from remote area and small cities being deprived of this new kind of people powered media due to immense lack of proper knowledge, communication and poor infrastructure. So, the question arises here, is there any system or organization for these NIUs to bring them among the online communities to satisfy their most fundamental human needs, their desire for knowledge, communication and a sense o belonging?
So friends, solution comes up with “iJagriti” a program launched by JITS. The purpose of iJagriti to aware and educate about the Internet usage among the less affluent and backward society.
